Veronika Matysiak: Senate Majority

Veronika Matysiak, a junior, is super excited to serve as your Senate Majority Leader at WMC 2018! She first attended WMC as an eighth grader, then continued in Model Congress as a co-chair and chair. Outside of WMC, you might see her from time to time, running around with her camera. She loves to play volleyball, learn crazy languages, and relax with her 2 dogs, Puppy and Rex.

Jacob Nixon: Senate Minority

My name is Jacob Nixon, and I am a senior from Henrico County.  This year’s Walker Model Congress (WMC) will be my fourth – and final, unfortunately – experience with WMC.  Prior to this year, I volunteered in the 2014-15 WMC, and I was vice chair in the 2015-16 WMC.  In the 2016-17 WMC, I was a co-chair for the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.  I applied to be a Senate leader this year because I enjoyed the aspect of working with all delegates to pass bills and to have an overall positive experience. Outside of WMC, I play our school’s volleyball and outdoor track and field teams.  I am also interested in composing original music; I play the cello and guitar.  I look forward to collaborating in this year’s WMC.
